Despite the fact that OBI Goal Installation programme as now been completed, the OBI development programme will continue for several years to come through the work of the current England Basketball Facilities Manager, who is an Integral part of the England Basketball Development Team.
The emphasis for the future role of OBI courts is very much about integrating the benefits of the scheme into the Basketball community, encouraging clubs to take a lead in utilising the many OBI Sites available, to promote the club and as a part of a recruitment strategy.
In the EB Club Accreditation Scheme clubs that have achieved Two Star status (10 registered juniors, and a qualified coach), must be able to demonstrate knowledge of local outdoor Sites. The future will see EB development staff working with clubs and sports development officers to encourage clubs to fully support the OBI activities organised by local authorities, but also look to take more ownership of what goes on.
